Valentine’s day is fast approaching —
I love to share the love all year, especially on Valentine’s day.
These are some of my favorite things I do for my family on Valentines day:
I make special foods and serve them throughout the day for my family, I use a heart jello mold for raspberry or strawberry jello with cool whip on top of it and make heart shaped pancakes with an iron type heart I place in my iron skillet – works really well. I especially did this a lot when my kids were little.

I love making or getting little gifts and cards for my grandchildren, and I send a card I made or bought to my adult children & their spouses. I give my husband a card I made or bought and usually give him one of those small boxes of heart chocolates or something I know he enjoys eating, like peanuts.
This year I am preparing a get together with a few friends that haven’t seen my daughters’ twins and my oldest daughters’ daughter to have a little Valentine party. There will be three children under the age of two and the twins, four months old. We will fill Valentine greetings for them, (memories for the twins I’m sure my daughter will save). I plan on preparing and making up a little story and craft for the children to do. I am looking forward to sharing this time with friends, my daughters and the children.

For my Valentine Decor, I don’t have a lot, but enjoy getting out my two heart pillows that I put in my living room, my two heart shaped floral tins, my beaded ornament (I bought at a craft fair years ago) that I hang on our closet door, my two vases of silk roses, (just in case I don’t get flowers, these make me feel happy), my straw heart shaped wreath with flowers in it that I hang in our family room, my heart candle holder, and lastly, a little heart picture I put on our window in the kitchen to enjoy.

These are the heart pictures I have made with pressed flowers. love making heart designs with flowers. Sometimes Tom has printed someone’s personal saying, one of my poems or inspirational sayings, or scripture within the heart for a custom order. Tom also sometimes makes rectangular cut outs on the bottom of the mat to place words. He will do this on request with any design – printing & cut-out cost is $15.00 and considered a custom order. He is an awesome framer. He has been cutting mats for eighteen years or so and does such beautiful framing work. See these designs and more in our Pressed Floral Gallery.

I love the way Tom will put a groove on the mat surrounding the design. I love the white mats for our watercolor designs and wanted to show these two examples. “First Snow” is available as an original painting, matted suitable for an 11 x 14 frame, as well as “Pinecone In Winter”. These are also available as Christmas cards as posted on Oct 19, 2017 blog. Of course we also offer all our watercolor paintings without the mats.
- 147 “First Snow” – 11×14 matted print
- 146 “Pinecone in Winter” – 11×14 matted print
On top of all this heart goodness are three watercolor paintings which I enjoyed painting: “Heart’s Message,” with candies, which is one of the first paintings I did and available as 5×7 greeting cards; “Bleeding Hearts” and “Love Birds” which are available as both original paintings and 5×7 cards. See these designs and more in our Watercolor Gallery.
