“Three More Paintings Revised”

Pretty Orange Rose, Pretty Pink Rose, and Pretty Peach Rose, all needed a different background I thought, also greener leaves, and wanted to get rid of my negative painting I attempted when I originally created them. So happy I decided to change them. I have been looking into impressionist panting and find it very interesting, thus was my attempt for the backgrounds. The top three ‘before” pictures are greeting cards and prints of how I first painted them, and the “after” pictures are what the paintings look like now, the originals. What do you think? Do you think they look better with the impressionistic background?

Hope I am inspiring someone out there to keep on painting. There is always something to learn, something new to try to make those paintings just the way you want.

Vicki

“Painting Revised”

I am happy with the revision of “Helleborus”, or as some know this flower as “Spring Rose”. I changed the background, lightened up the leaves and some of the flowers, and added more flowers to the table cloth. I have a few more paintings I did in my early days of painting I want to revise and will share those with you now and then. What do you think of the revision, (the painting below the first one)?

My first painting of “Helleborus”, painted 2016, one year after I first started painting in watercolor. Check out my revision of this painting, done May, 2023, below this one.

“Helleborus”, REVISED!! May, 2023. I love it now. Don’t give up on painting!

Painting can be a challenge, but we all learn along the way. I have such a love of color, nature, paper, and design and love to create beautiful art for all to enjoy. I love to share God’s beauty and share that with others, one painting at a time.

Happy Creating,

From Sketch to Finished Painting / Gourds

I found these gourds on a recent trip to Colorado. I share a love of gourds with I’m sure many, aren’t they so interesting to include in your decor at Fall time?! I love the different colored small looking pumpkin ones, the unusual shapes and colors of some, and those pretty white ones.

Making a sketch of them and painting is just what makes my heart at this beautiful time of year!

“He Is Risen” Painted Cross in Watercolor

It’s been awhile since I posted anything on my blog. I had a wedding shower in my backyard in July for my son and daughter-in-law. We planted new grass since May, which was 1/3 of our yard, worked on our garden, and I made many things for the shower. The weather was wonderful. So happy I was able to have that for them. My daughters Leah and Susan helped so much planning and doing so much to make it happen. Now I have some time to get back to Nature’s Best stuff!

Loved painting this cross. The gladiolus flower in the middle of the cross was from my photo library. My son and daughter-in-law grow beautiful flowers.

Hope you are having a wonderful Summer. Stay cool!

Vicki

Remembering Past Trips

I’m ready to start traveling again, aren’t you?! Let’s get this Pandemic over with and start traveling again!

This is our beach house we stay at on our trip “Up North” Michigan. Just around the beach house is Lake Michigan and every night we walk to the lake to see breathtaking sunsets. I can’t wait to make this trip again!

“Painting Birthday Flowers #4- Lilies”/ 2020

Beautiful Lilies – These two Lilies were buds when I received a vase of flowers from my son and girlfriend for my birthday and it was so nice to see these pop open, they are such a beautiful color. I decided to paint a close up of them. I’ve been capturing photographs of the beautiful color of trees on our walk and although Lilies are not a Fall flower, these colored Lilies reminded me of Fall.

With the leaves, flowers, and background painted I can now use my rubber cement eraser (to the right of my painting) and take the masking fluid off in the center, then paint that to complete my painting. Masking fluid saved those areas I needed to paint a different color, a technique I think is so helpful painting in Watercolor.

“Let’s Paint Roses in a Pretty Bowl”

Hello Everyone,

I love Roses, they are all in bloom in our garden except the pink ones we have in the front garden. I also love putting cut flowers in our pretty dishes as a center piece for the table.

Such loveliness to capture in a painting. I find the more I paint, the more challenging some compositions are for me, but that’s good. That means I continue to learn. Don’t give up if you are starting to paint in Watercolor! Remember mistakes are good, that means we will all learn for the next painting, right?

“Let’s Paint a Fall Wagon of Pumpkins and Mums”

Hello Everyone,  What a happy time we had with our son and his family this past week. Today I am painting a wagon that they use to gather pumpkins and flowers after they choose them in the field. The wagon is my daughter-in-laws and she has had it for a very long time.

I love painting Fall pictures. So much to be thankful for.

Let’s Paint a Hanging Flower Pot For the 4th of July!

Hello Everyone –  Happy 4th of July! The flowers on my photo looked like firecrackers. I thought this would make a nice painting on a watercolor card to send someone around the 4th of July.

I had fun mixing colors to get the colors I want using my color chart – something that has saved me lots of time! I have lots more photos from my trips and also subjects just around the house. Painting is so fun, rewarding, and challenging all at the same time!

Happy Creating,

Vicki
