Pressed Floral Art

The Art of Pressing flowers has been a wonderful journey since Aug of 1995 when I stood in my garden with all its splendor and held a Queen Anne's Lace in my hand & put a pansy on top of it. I thought to myself, this is truly nature at its best, thus Nature's Best Art was born that exciting day. Since then I have pressed flowers and have made over 100 designs. One idea has led to another. I can't wait to share my journey with you. My husband Tom does all the framing and matting and has also put together over fifty beautiful wedding invitations, some with their original flowers I designed on the mat or with the design printed for lasting color.

It is Spring as I am writing this. Living in the beautiful state of Michigan I see and feel everything around me waking up after a long winter. The cherry blossoms are in bloom, the tulips, the bleeding hearts, and even the forget-me-nots. Just yesterday I ran to our kitchen window to observe a mother duck with 10 little ducklings waddling behind her! Life doesn't get much better than that. God's goodness is all around us.

I hope you can join me on my continued journey of the Art of Pressing flowers. There is much to discover and learn. My hope is my art can give you a little peace and happiness in your life and I hope you too can enjoy and savor wonderful moments in your garden or the beautiful flowers and foliage all around us.

Vicki’s art is inspired by nature – God’s amazing palette. She started Nature’s Best in August of 1995, creating designs with pressed flowers from her garden. In October 2015 she added a new adventure – Watercolors! “How exciting, doing both will be such a joy.” You will now be able to enjoy Pressed Floral designs in limited edition prints along with her Original Watercolors.

Vicki painting “Roses in September” – September 2020

I love painting glass and roses. Combining these beautiful Roses I received as a gift from my son and girlfriend, and using this vase I thought was a beautiful combination. I love to create harmony in my paintings, and thought these colors look lovely together with the look of glass.

Autumn Leaves - 2020 #294

Watercolor Art

Why Watercolor?!   For years I have been pressing flowers and foliage and didn't mind if they turned color over the years.  I thought one day I will make bird feathers, mountains, trees; anything in nature, from the petals.  I tried it but wasn't satisfied.  I thought, maybe I could draw & paint nature!

I picked up a paint brush and started painting after observing wonderful Artists on YouTube for six months.  One in particular - Lindsay Weirich - I call my Art Teacher.  There are also many other painters that share how to paint and what materials to use.  I was at awe at the different techniques you can do to0 accomplish what it is you are trying to paint, learning what brushes work best, the paper, the paints; there is so much to learn.

I have painted about 80 designs since Oct of 2015 and have many more designs I want to paint, I absolutely love watercolor.  I love how you can paint & just walk away from it and start right on painting after spraying the paint with a little water.  There is so much to share with you.  I hope my art adds a little bit of serenity and joy to your life and you too can enjoy a little bit of nature.
